Infection after D&C stillborn b/c infected placenta

I am 24yrs old and just delivered a stillborn baby at 20wks. I had a d&c to remove the placenta. They sent it to pathology and it was extremely infected (no blood left). The baby had been strong and healthy but the infection destroyed the placenta and cord, caused an abruption and low waters 4.2. Now I have an infection in my uterus with mucus and blood as well as an infection in my chest(congestion and coughing). My obgyn did cultures and has given me two antibiotics. He asked me if I wanted to take the antibiotics or be admitted. I really didn't know what to do obviously, no one wants to go to the hospital. I choose the antibiotics. My question is...Is it likely that the infection post d&c caused by the same thing that attacked the placenta and caused the loss of my son or is it because of placental tissue still inside me? Since that placental tissue had the first infection is that still a risk to me? What tests do I need to have my doctor do? I have been getting a lot of "I don't knows" and "Let's try this and see if it works". I am in pain and am just very scared. I have one healthy 2yr old at home (perfect pregnancy) but I had an early miscarriage before I lost this 20wk pregnancy. We want to have more children. Please advise me. Should I get a second opinion or is my obgyn doing everything he can? Thank you so much.
