it's generally due to infection known as conjunctivitis. This can be caused by viral or bacterial infection, allergy, sand, dirt etc, plugged tear duct can cause pink eye. If it's viral related, warm compress, (there is also a product on the market for pink eye) which I will include a link at the bottom. If bacterial generally an antibiotic will clear this up. If not cleared up within 5 days a visit to the doctor is needed or if there is a change in vision.
