My four month old was just diagnosed with MRSA. How

My four month old was just diagnosed with MRSA. How serious is this? Should he be treated immediately? And, where, besides the hospital. can he get it from? Also, I cannot find anything on signs and symptoms of this, so, what are some, and, can you get it from animals??
