I have a long narrow hard mass in my upper rear
Sent to Health Experts March 25 12:22 AM

I have a long narrow hard mass in my upper rear buttock that feels very hard.. It causes my walking to be difficult with pain.. It is not a muscle .. I've been having signs of infection.. Low grade fever, gas, bloating and nagging pain from my lower spine out into this long thing.. I have fibromyalgia and I've never had this kind of thing before. It doesn't go away.. I've been struggling with heat and ice packs and massage hoping it would go away.. It feels like a big long tape worm.. I KNOW it isn"t that>> Have you ever heard of this before? I had a tunneling bacterial infection in my groin and in the vaginal area twice in years past.. They would come to a head and doctors put me on antibiodics.. What kind of doctor should I SEE>>Please help me.. I'm really worried.. It's making my whole body sick..

Your rheumatologist should be able to help determine if this is an infection or if it is a fascietis. It does sound like an infection, and some basic lab work would give this information pretty quickly. This can get serious fast, so you need to be seen soon. The antibiotic you took may not have been the right one, or it might have been too old to be any good. See your rheumatologist or general physician within 24 hours.
