An abcessed tooth for the most part will be painful and ooze an infection that tastes bitter and metalllic. However, for an abcess like inpacted wisdom teeth to cause numbing of the mouth/lips is uncommon, but can happen. Even a lower canine tooth could do this but only if the infection is at the root tip and near the mandibular nerve. Please see a dentist ASAP because only a trained professional can determine if this is the case or you have something else going on. I assume this is a problem in you lower jaw and there are things that can cause this to happen. Sometimes even an infection in the jaw bone itself can cause this to happen.
