I am a 48 year old female. I have been excercising using weights. Last weekend I did some "brain crunchers" which involve laying down and doing some lifting over the head with a 45 pound bar bell. My left arm was sore all week but not real bad. Today, my left arm is very swollen. It is hard to lift over my head and I have no elbow due to the swelling and stiffness. Should I be concerned and how should I reduce the swelling? I think it is water because it is hard.

Reply to BRENDA BACKUS's Post: I dont have any pain but am concerned that there is so much fluid built up. When you say see your doctor, this being Saturday night, can it wait until Monday or is this fluid a potential risk?

No you need to go to the er ..You could have a fracture and if you do that could be infection and not water building up in your arm..I have seen this one other time in a friend and he had problems for awhile..I don't want to frighten you but please go..Brenda
