Reply to Lindie's Post: Sorry, it is my left side. It is the lower left side, just below my ribs. I first noticed it this morning. At first I thought it was just muscular, but I am not sure now.

That's OK, I'm just glad I had asked.

Pain here most often suggests a problem in the lower colon, where food waste is expelled. Possible causes include inflammatory bowel disease or an infection in the colon known as diverticulitis.

  • Crohn's disease

  • Diverticulitis
  • I would see your doctor at this point to find the exact cause. In the mean time keep track of your bowel movements, try to eat more fiber. If the pain gets really severe, you may even want to be seen in the ER, if not at least do follow up with your doctor. Just in case it may be due to pulled muscles, you can try taking some ibuprofen and apply a warm heating pad to the area.

Hope this helps, If you need anything else please feel free to ask. If you found this helpful don’t forget to click the *accept* button!

    Relist: I still need help.
Is there any way I can determine whether it is a pulled muscle or something more serious like diverticulitus? I am currently 400 miles from home and am debating whether I should return tomorrow, and see my doctor, or continue.
