I have had bouts of diarhea for the past 3 weeks (i think 5 times in the past 3 weeks) and I had another bout yesterday. It's usually just one bout -- not prolonged diarhea- that in itself is worrisome BUT i just noticed that I have little red dots on my tongue. There are really small red bumps on the tip and around the edges and also bigger tiny red bumps on the sides and back of my tongue. It almost looks as though they are tiny blood blisters. It've quite worrisome. Are the 2 connected? indiacte a vrus or allergy or bacteria? I have been trying to think if i've been anything i'm allergic too -- but i can't think of anything.

This sounds bacterial or viral infection related as with the re-ocurring diarrhea and now the sign of the bumps on the tongue which could be inflammed taste buds. It is possible that the bumps are allergy related but if you have not eaten anything different and cannot think of anything you are allergic to then this is less likely. I would recommend that you try some Imodium which can help with the bouts of diarrhea but if they continue you should be seen to also rule out any intestional tract disorders, irritable bowel syndrome, or infection that needs a round of antibiotics.

Reply to Cheryl K.'s Post: Thank you for your input. My sister has IBS and my family tends toward digestion problems (unfortunately) so I am hoping I don't have IBS as well (though I have been stressed recently so maybe it's flaring up).

Thanks again,
