My girl friend is expierencing pain in her lower back, lower pelvic area, and also in the urinary track. The pain in the urinary track isn't triggered by urinating, it's a constent pain that comes and goes. It doesn't burn when she urinates anymore then it's already burning. Also the pain in her lower back and pelvic area happens only when the urinary track in in pain. She waas tested for urinary track infection and it came back negotive but the doctor put here on Cipro. My question is, what could be causing this, I know most STD's only burn while urinating and I haven't been with anyone but her for over 2 years, she says the same. I do not have any pain like she expierencing either. If you could give us some answers on what some possibilitys of what this could be I would appriciate it.

Thank you
Denny

REPLIED Check Mark

I think you can rest easy that this is not sexually related. It is possible that she has a urinary tract infection even though the dip is negative. I assume they sent a culture anyway and in 3 days or so the final result will be in. Meanwhile she is treating for a probable urinary tract infection so it does not progress for lack of therapy. I would hope she had a pelvic exam to check her uterus and ovaries for any abnormalities. Urine dip tests are not very accurate, that is the most likely scenario based on her complaints and so that is what the doctor is going with. There are no std's that would cause her complaint

Yes but she has completed the cipro they gave her and it hasn't got any better, every other time she has had a urinary track infection the cipro medication always worked. It's not a burning feeling when she urinates it's a constent pain that comes and goes. All the doctor did was the urine dip test, but like I said before if it was a urinary track infection shouldn't the medication they gave her cure it (it worked the couple of times before when she had a uti). Is there any other infections or diseases that cause the constent pain in the urinary track, lower back, and pelvic area.
