I have had a morton's neuroma removed 10 days ago and have developed an area of the size of jacks ball that is slightly raised and red all around in an irregular pattern right below the incision sight. I still have my stitches which will be removed on Thursday. Ice and pain medication are my only relief. I am taking Keflex for possible infection. I have been soaking my foot in batadine solution to help the infection. Could I possible just be having an allergic reaction?

Optional Information:
Female , Age: 61

Already Tried:
treatment from my dr. for infection but it is not working so far but getting worse. I will call today after I hear what you have to say. I feel like I need a second opinion.

This does not sound like an allergic reaction, but instead, that the infection is not responding to the antibiotics. You should call your physician immediately, tell them that your symptoms haven't gotten any better and in fact are getting worse, and you need to be seen ASAP. You should be seen and examined, to determine if the infection has (like you suspect) gotten worse. A localized infection like this can progress to much deeper infection (a "cellulitis" or "fasciitis") and, if left untreated or treated improperly, can become very dangerous indeed.

So I would suggest that you make the call immediately and request to be seen immediately.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions - I'm more than happy to help. Take care.
