Hello. I recently had a nurse pull what she thought was a large insect stinger from a swollen pimple like place on my back. She said it did look like infection had started. Well, a week later and the pimple was a huge boil. I had my uncle who is an ER doctor look at it. He said it was characteristic of boils associated with staph. He put me on doxycycline (200 mg a day). I've taken that for 4 days. Now the boil looks like it has a ton of little blisters in the center - and some are peeling. It not only hurts, but now itches as well. In fact, my back is itching in other places and I did notice a small blister-like abrasion in the other area where my back is itching. I am a very clean person. I do not want this boil spreading. Is the itching simply a sign of healing - that the antibiotics are actually working? I know that is the case with some wounds. Any thoughts or suggestions?
