My husband has had increasing weakness for about 3 to 4 ...

My husband has had increasing weakness for about 3 to 4 weeks now, feels hunger, but food doesn't taste good, was extremely thirsty for a while, but that seems to have quieted down, and feels achy all over. He has seen his doctor and had a CT Scan of the abdomen and pelvic area as the doctor suspected prostatitis or bladder and/or kidney involvement. He does have an enlarged prostate, but his PSA is normal. He is 62. I've wondered about a bleeding ulcer or influenza. He doesn't have a fever. The doctor has done 2 blood workups, but the first one did not include a blood count and we haven't received the results of the 2nd one which did include a blood count. Do you have any advice?

Hello,

Has he experienced any burining upon urination or imability to initiate a stream of urine? Has a urine culture been performed?

He has very frequent urination without much relief, but no pain, and, yes, he had a urinalysis and was told there were a lot of white cells in his urine. Also, he's been on a broad spectrum antiobiotic for 4 days and has 6 days to go on that. The doctor said he should be feeling somewhat better in a couple of days after starting the drug.

Frequent urination is a sign of an enlarged prostate. What I was worried about was the inability to urinate.

Often when an infection is present, lack of energy and appetite comes along with it.

As he has started the course of antibiotics, he will begin to feel better over the next few days.

It appears his doctor did the appropriate testing and it is just now a matter of waiting for the antibiotics to take hold of the infection.
