I am well familiar with HIV as I volunteered in a center in Tallahassee Florida. I want you to understand that I am not by any means wanting to scare you. Concern about HIV is always inherent by nature.
Deep kissing has shown to on occasion from interviews with patients and history can cause HIV.
However, certain conditions must exist for this to happen. Mouth sores from your partner must be present. Blood or exchange of contaminated saliva would need to be exchanged.
Acid content within your mouth will to some degree protect you. But this is not always the case.
If this was your first encounter (sexually) or with this girl and you have tested positive for mono and you are not sexually active at this time then I would wait 3 months and be tested for HIV at that time.
Odds are in your favor that if this was your first sexual encounter and have not been sexually active since or an IV drug user then you very well should be negative.
But it takes time for the antibodies to start to show as I mentioned. And this is before any real symptoms of HIV occur.
You used protection so that is to your benefit. I would be more concerned to be treated for the Mono at this time. Remain sexually inactive for 3 months minimum and then be retested using the ELISA test for HIV.
Worry is your worst enemy. Do not let it consume you during this time. If during your waiting period you need to talk then please feel free to request me by name.
I wish you the best.
