My son had a hip replacement. He had a few surgries

My son had a hip replacement. He had a few surgries prior the hip replacement. One was a partial hip and then a few more. He is very much overwieght and this caused problems with the surgries. He is now in the hospital with a possible infection in his fiba or femor. The talk is that if there is an infection he may just have to have his artifical hip taken out and be in a wheelchair with nothing more to or can be done. I believe due to his weight his body can take no more extensive surgries. Does this sound proper?
