I have two swollan lymph nodes on the left side of my neck, but no cold or sore throat. My doctor is sending me to an ear, nose and throat specialist to check for lymphoma or Hodkins. Is this a common precaution or should I be alarmed? He thinks they will do a biopsy.

He normally would have done blood work first to rule these out. But after testing and no infection is found then yes it is routine. But other causes may be doing this. He seems to have jumped too fast too soon if he has done no blood work.
