I have a 69 year old friend. Her problem started with Swelling of hand and wrist. She refused to see doc. unitl the pain was severe which was approx. 6 weeks after the problem started. They immediately stated she had a staph infection and treated her with strong antibiotics for a couple weeks. After a week of the antibiotics she experience severe pain shooting throughout her body. Everywhere except her head.
Pain so severe that she screamed out when the pain hit areas of her legs, arms, stomach and arms. She seen the nurse as Dr was unavailable. She sent her home to complete the antibiotics. The pain left her for a few days but she hasn't recovered with any strength. Now she is again experiencing the pain throughtout her body and is confined to her bed except when she feels she has to function in her home for various reasons. We cannot make her realize she should go to the emergency room. The nurse made her an appointment with a specialize doctor for joint's. (for August 15th which is a month away. What do you suggest and should she wait , if possible for this appointment, or is she at risk. Each day I am surprised she is still alive. Please give us your suggestions as to how serious this is. Thank you, Hazel Bryant

Hello

I think this is very serious and the ER is important to go to. I'm not sure how to convince your friend, but please try.
