Pain in Mouth

Sent to Health Experts July 23 2006 at 8:46 AM

On the right side of my mouth, in front of 2-3 of my teeth, there is a small flat white mark and the gums are red around it. It is very painful. Could this be a sexually transmitted diese or may there just be an infection of the gums.

Without seeing does it make it a bit hard, but going by your description, it does sound as though this may be the start of thrush. Which is a type of yeast infection. For now, rinse your mouth with 1/2 peroxide and 1/2 water. Also eating yogurt and holding it in your mouth a bit will help too. If there is not change by doing the above in a couple of days, then do see your doctor, as you may need a course of antibiotics.

Reply to Lindie's Post: Thanks Lidia. But you don't think that these are signs of syphillis from your overall view right now???

In the meantime I will take your advise.

No, not with it being painful to start. Thrush is common in the mouth. This begins when there is an upset balance of normal microorganisms in the mouth.

So do try the above and go from there.
