What's the best thing to do for Rosie. No signs yet.

my two year old goes to day care and an outbreak of cox sackie virus has spread through the school. We were away on vacation while this happened, and she went back one day and the second day I found out how many kids had this and I went right back out the door. I don't no if I should keep her out as it has been exsplained to me that if she's going to get it , she's going to get it weather it be today or 10 days from now. I really don't no what to do. The outbreak happened about July 15th or so.

Hello,

I understand your concern; however, it may not be possible to avoid an illness in children as their hygiene at age two is marginal.

It is your personal decision; however, it would now be safe for her to return to daycare. The incubation period (the time between infection and the onset of symptoms) for most coxsackie virus infections is about 2 to 10 days. It appears you have kept her home for the interim in which she may have contracted the virus.

The school made a valid point, if she unfortunately was exposed, she will get it whether you keep her isolated or not.
