SWOLLEN NECK GLANDS AT THE BASE OF THE LEFT HAND SIDE NEAR THE CAROTID ARTERY AND ALSO AT THE JAW LINE ON THE SAME SIDE. NO FEVER BUT MODERATE PAIN TO TOUCH THE BASE OF NECK.

Sounds to be an infection and the glands are filtering the infections out. Or at least trying. The tenderness is normal and consistent with swollen lymph glands. You may have anything from a minor infection to more serious illness and a complete blood work up should be done. I would contact your primary doctor or if needed go ahead and go to the ER. But your swollen lymph glands are causing this to occur.

May also be your tonsils instead of glands. May have some type of oral infection causing the tonsils to swell.
