The correct spelling is Staph for Staph infections.

Yes, they can kill you but they do not HAVE to kill you. They can be fatal if they are:

1) not treated and allowed to spread into the blood

2) in a person with a very poor immune system such as someone with HIV/AIDS or someone on medications that supress the immune system, such as cancer patients. The very young and the very old, and people with other illnesses, and/or poor nutrition amy also have poor immune systems.

3) caused by a very severe and destructive staph bacteria such as the "flesh eating bacteria"

4) caused by a staph bacteria that is not killed by the antibiotics that normally kill the bacteria (like MRSA ..it sounds like MERSA" when people say the word) in a person who is already is ill or who has a weak immune system.

A weak immune sytem means that the person's body is not good at fighting off infections with it's own natural defenses.

Staph infections are caused my a group of bacteria called Staphylococcus.

These bacteria can cause many different diseases in may different areas of the body.

Where is the staph infection that you are asking about?? Is it the skin???
