I have a bunch of red bumbs on my leg on both ...

I have a bunch of red bumbs on my leg on both sides to the left and right of my penis the left one is alot larger than my right the left is about the size of a softball it started out a small round circle and just got larger over several weeks it itches really bad. It went away for a few weeks but the color of my skin was still darker were it was and now it is back in full force itching like crazy again. I put like calimine lotion it stops the itching but hasnt went away.   What is it?

Can I ask

Does the skin affected have a red outer margin at the edge of the rash?

Can I ask about your general health, do you take any medication?

Have you changed anything recently such as laundry detergent, toiletries etc?

My initial thought is a fungal infection (tinea cruris) which I recommend terbinafine or ketoconazole creamfor one or two weeks. Clotrimazole is also effective but can take up to 4 weeks to be effective.

Using hydrocortisone will slow down healing of a fungal infection so should no longer be used.

Depending on the nature of the bumps eg crustiness then it could be something completely different such as a viral infection. To be on the safe side, I would abstain from intercourse until the rash is cleared up.

If there is no improvement at all after two weeks of the creams I mentioned then you can ask your doctor to take a skin scraping for analysis.
