Hi, I have a question regarding a swollen lymph node in my left side pelvic area. It has been a little sore for about two days. I don't feel sick. Should I worry or just see if it goes away????

Hi Michael-

Usually a swollen gland means your body is fighting an infection. They can stay sollen for a long time after the infection has actually left, however, which is why many people feel perfectly heathy even though they have swollen glands.

Nevertheless, given that the gland is currently sore, you should probably go and get things checked out - just to rule out a possible infection that your body is fighting. You may need to be placed on an antibiotic, depending on what exactly is going on.

Unfortunately I can't say exactly what is causing the swollen gland, since this would require an examination. Your doctor may want to check for STD's or a viral/bacterial infection occuring elsewhere in your body.

Bottom Line: Don't worry too much, but be worried enough to see your doctor.

Sincerely,
Emily
