Hello,

It is likely that you have a Urinary tract infection. The UTI can occur in the bladder, ureters or kidneys, but I believe that at least one of your kidneys is involved because of the back pain. There may or may be kidney stones.

I suggest that you consult a doctor as it seems likely that you will need to take antibiotics to control the UTI.

Meanwhile, take an alkaliser like AZO or alkaliser satchets or even baking powder mixed in water (2 tsf baking powder in 1 glass of water) to make your urine alkaline. This will prevent further growth of bacteria in the bladder as well as prevent burning while passing urine.

Taking cranberry juice was a good idea.

You can also take Motrin tablets 500mg twice daily after food to decrease the inflammation and pain.

But, a consultation with a doctor is essential as you will probably need investigations like blood tests, Xrays and IVPs to find out how far the infection has travelled and to rule out kidney stones.

I hope this helps.
