Hi,
The reasons of burning sensation could be due to-
- infection in the vagina(vaginitis) which can be caused by a host of reasons that could be bacterial, protozoal, fungal and viral. The bacterial, protozoal reasons and fungal infection being more common. These infections can lead to urinary tract infections too.
- urethritis and infection in the urinary tract can cause buring during urinating and at the same time a dull and constant ache is felt in the back and pelvis. These again can be due to bacterial infections.
For both the conditions you need to get investigated and get treated with anitbiotics. Both you and your husband need to be treated so that the infections is not transmitted to and fro.
It is very likely that you might have fungal/yeast infection. During menstruation, the ph of the vagina is raised(becomes alkaline) which makes it vulnerable to the fungus which normally resides in the vaginal tissueThe fungus then overgrows and causes infection. The symptoms of a fungal infection are same as you have described.
I would suggest you to visit a gynaecologist and get checkup and tests done. These conditions are treatable.
There are some precautions that might be helpful for avoiding UTI and vaginitis.
- Drink lot of water 10-12 glasses per day.
- use cotton underwear which fits well, not too tight fitting.
- Pass urine before and after having sex.
- Clean yourself from front backwards as the anal area always has some amount of bacteria and therefore should be cleaned in the end.
Hope this has been useful.
