Yeast/ bacterial condition
Sent to Health Experts August 28 04:14 PM

I have been all over the web looking for information on an animal/bird transmitted disease/condition that humans can get called "HISTOPLASMA AB YEAST AG"
I'm not sure if that's all ONE name, or not. The doctor wrote it out as the problem in my lung. There is a nodule/growth in my lung that is suppose to be a result of inhaling spores. I wanted to read about this to find out the cause, what it can do, how dangerous it is, etc. I can't find ANYTHING on it at all. I use to rehab and raise orphaned and injured wildlife in Indiana. I've had almost everything indigenous to the area....including birds such as wild ducks, Canadian geese, etc. (that the doctor says it's mostly connected with)
I would like to find out more about WHAT this is, and some sources to go to on the web, if YOU can find any. Everything I came up with was FAR too "medical" and biologically written to understand. Good luck! I've tried...unless the person answering is a doctor....THEN it may be possible to find out something about this! Thanks!

Hello,

I'm a nurse, but I think that I can help you. I am familiar with histoplasmosis.

This is a fungal infection that is spread, as you say, by inhaling spores from bat and bird droppings.

Here are a couple of websites that will help you to better understand the cause, symptoms and treatment.

http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dbmd/diseaseinfo/histoplasmosis_g.htm#What%20is%20histoplasmosis

Hope you find this information helpful and if I can answer anything else for you, let me know.

Reply to Pamela's Post: Dear Pamela,

I had seen/read one of those sites. Are histoplasma and histoplasmosis the same thing? They are listed separately at other sites.

There's nothing at those sites about the "AB yeast AG....so, although I appreciate your trying, I'd really like an answer that included, or at least mentioned the AB YEAST AG, so that I know I'm on the right track.

Thanks for what you have sent, though, but this wasn't anything I didn't know so far.
