I think my retroauricular lymph node on the left side of my head is very swollen and tender. What drains into this node?

Relist: I still need help.
It has been one day and it is a little less swollen, but now I have a slight earache.

Our lymph nodes become inflammed when there is a virus or infection that the body is trying to fight off. You may have an infection in your ear, or possibly you sinuses. If you continue to feel ill, you will want to see a doctor for further testing to see if your white count is high. If it is, you may need a course of antibiotics to clear it up.

Reply to Kerry's Post: is it normal for them to be hard and painful? I also notice that the pain gets more intense at night, and I don't have a fever. Howlong shoould i wait to make a dr.'s appointment.

No, this is not normal. It is most likely a virus if you don't have a fever. I wouldn't wait any longer than four or five days to see a doctor.
