Hello,

I think you have a Sentinel Pile. This is a type of external hemorrhoid. It occurs when a hemorrhoid that had occurred earlier (perhaps even without any symptoms) decreases slightly in size. The skin in which the hemorrhoid was surrounded remains as a soft mass. You can feel the firm hemorrhoid inside the skin when you touch it. Normally, unless it is causing a lot of problems, treatment is not absolutely necessary. You might have occasional flare-ups of hemorrhoirds where you will get bleeding while passing stool. Sometimes there may be infection of the henorrhoid resulting in pain and discharge.

To treat the hemorrhoid:

- Put ice packs ( a towel put in the fridge ) on the anus for 10 minutes 4 times a day.

- Use Anusol - H ointment on the swelling for 3 times a day, especially after a bowel movement.

- If you are constipated, increase the fibre in your diet and take at least 8 glasses of water daily.

- Avoid straining when passing stool.

- Do not wipe hard at the swelling after passing stool. Use a baby wipe or a toilet paper soaked in water.

- If the growth does not decrease in size in 1 week, or if there is an increase in the size, any pain, any bleeding within 1 week, please get yourself checked up by a proctologist (a doctor who specializes in diseases of the anus and rectum) for confirmation of the diagnosis.

- Other causes of growths around the anus can be warts. If the swelling increases in size or more such swellings come up, please see a proctologist.

I hope this helps.

hello,

If you have not bled heavily when you popped it, then you probably have not touched the hemorrhoid - so the one thing you need be afraid of is infection. Keep an eye on it and if there is any swelling, pain or discharge, please consult a doctor.

Hemorrhoids usually occur due to chronic constipation or frequent use of laxatives.

If the swelling does not decrease in 1 week, please see a doctor.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you need more input. If not, please click on the green"Accept" button on this page. A positive rating and adding a bonus will be warmly appreciated.
