My 2 1/2 year old daughter has had stool that is black with mucous. She had 2 last night & 3 this morning. Then she had a diaper without any stool but with mucous & bright red blood. Can you tell me what this might be. I am taking her to the dr. this afternoon.

The symptoms she has can be due to infection or inflammatory bowel disease, or a juvenile polyp.

The most common cause is Anal fissure.

A proper clinical examination is essential to reach a diagnose. My advice is to see a pediatric gastroenterologist soon
