Hello,

Pain in the right side at the base of the ribcage can be due to :

- A gallbladder inflammation

- Strained muscles

- Infection in the lungs.

Since the pain is more when you cough or move in a cerain way, I believe that you have strained muscles in that area - possibly as a result of a heavy bout of coughing.

Please take a painkiller and anti-inflammatory like Motrin 500mg after food. Also apply a hot pack over the area for 10 minutes to relax the muscles. Wipe off the skin and then apply a muscle relaxant like Icy-hot or Tobricin.

You should feel better in 24 hours. If you don't, please consult a doctor since you will need to be checked for gallbladder or lung problems.

I hope this helps.
