I am sorry I need to clarify what you mean, is there swelling in one side of your neck or a difference in the way your neck stance looks in the way your head is holding it as well as your shoulders? Also have you ever had chicken pox before when you were younger and do you have any rash bumps or fatigue? This will allow me to be of better help to you. Thank you.

I have never had chicken pox. In the last hour or so the left side of my neck became painful. There does not appear to be any swelling and no difference in the way my neck looks. I do not have any rashes, bumps. No abnormal fatigue, just the regular amout of a busy mom with two small children!

Ok thank you for that information as this helps me to be of better help to you. This sounds like you may have some swollen glands in your neck which is usually caused by a minor infection which usually relieves itself. The glands work to grab infection and rid the body of it and usually heal on their own within a couple of days. The one thing to keep in mind is to watch for any rash, outbreak, fever or fatigue that could be the sign of the chicken pox stain since you have never had it even though you had the vaccine when you were younger you are still more apt to catch it since you have not had it. Aldo being a mother of two children watch them too as with some they are a carrier and can pass it. Use some warm compresses on your neck and this should help the glands and it could even be that you have possibly slightly strained it by turning wrong even though you did not notice it at the time but since there is an incubation period with chicken pox up to 10 days do monitor any abnormal signs that could relate to it and if your glands do worsen and not get better it is best to be seen to make sure no infectio is present that may require antibiotics.
