Looking for HPV treatment...aldara?

Sent to Health Experts September 28 2007 at 5:55 AM

I was diagnosed with HPV about 2 months ago. After some rounds of electrocautery (which started to add up in terms of $$$) my doctor prescribed Valtrex (which I thought was just for herpes) but it seems to have significantly slowed the wart development...but I have a few that remain and even some smaller ones developing. I was thinking perhaps a round of Aldara to get rid of them? Also, given that my partner has been exposed (she hasn't manifested any symptoms) should I be wearing a condom during intercourse?

Optional Information:
Male, Age: 29, Canada

Already Tried:
Electrocautery, Valtrex

Hi,

Yes, Aldara is used for genital warts. However, we do not know why and how it works.

You should use condoms during intercourse.

Best Regards.,

I see thank you. How long should I wear protection for? Until they go away? Is there a higher probability of re-infection if I don't?

thanks

Its not herpes...I havee genital warts. My doctor gave me Valtrex (I gather for it's anti-viral behaviour).

I still have these questions :
How long should I wear protection for? Until they go away? Is there a higher probability of re-infection if I don't?
