Could Recurrent mouth sores on inner cheeks (not canker sores) and recurrent fungal infection (not sure if fungal infection or not) on folds of groin be a sign of immune deficiency? I recently went to my family doctor and was told I am healthy. She felt stress, alcohol and soda were playing a big part in my problems. Agree? Both problems go away very quickly.. Stress is high and on nexium and anti-anxiety meds. I have always had mouth sores but never this frequent. 2 new babies and a highly stressful job. I am also an alcoholic (beer) and drink 5-6 sodas a day. Thoughs?

Hello Customer (name blocked for privacy),

Thank you for your question.

Any infection shows a breech in the immune system.

Stress can do that to a person.

It sounds like you have a Candida infection.

Candida is caused by yeast and likes to grow in warm moist places such as your skin folds and groin area.

Yeast thrives on sugar and guess what is in beer??

Yeast and sugar!

Pop also has sweetner whether is diet or not.

This feeds those little yeast and compromises yoru immune system.

Within 20 mins of consuming a sugar your immune function drops by 60%.

If you want to get this cleared up try to get off sugar and sweetner.

Garlic tabs will help and you may need an oral antifungal too.

Acidophilus is needed to start getting the good bacteria to again.

You should also be checked for diabetes as yeast loves sugar and diabetics!

Here is a link to tell you more.

It sounds like years of alcoholism and soda have caught up to me? Do you think I need to change my diet?

great advice and thanks again. I though oral thrush of the mouth was cottage cheeselike. Mine mouth sores were always red with no opening or ulcer. Thoughts?

sores inside of cheeks...never gums...non painful for the most part and red. My wife had oral thrush when pregnant and this looks or feels nothing like that..They don't even really bother me. The recurrence worries me.

I get them a few times a month the last couple of months... also, stress has been at an all time high to where doc put me on anxiety meds.

Both Doc and Dentists said from stress and trauma.. Also, in last few weeks visited doc for sore throat and he said I had coxsackie virus caused by allergies.
The issues in mouth to me look nothing like thrush based on pics i have seen and what doc said.

Thoughts?
