Hello,
There are one of two things that could be the cause:
- You are suffering from allergic rhinitis. Allergy to certain airborne particles like dust etc can cause inflammation of the nasal mucus membrane. While most people also suffer from itching, sneezing and nasal congestion due to allergy, a runny nose may be the only symtpotm in others.
- You are suffering from a dry eye syndrome. Tears are composed of 3 layers - an oil layer, a mucus layer and a water layer. Decreased secretion of the mucus layer may cause increased secretion of the water layer. Since tears drain out through the nose, this will lead to both watering of the eyes as well as a runny nose. Medicines like Restasis or Refresh tears work quite well.
Please get an examination by both an ENT specialist as well as an ophthalmologist for an accurate diagnosis.
I hope this helps.
