I have just experienced a bloody discharge of seamen. I am 21 years of age and my father had prostate cancer. Since its friday night my only option is to check into an emergency room. Is this a necessary action or can I wait until Monday to get this checked out. Thanks for your help.

Hello,

Hematospermia is the presence of blood in the seminal fluid. The etiology is not specifically known and is poorly understood. Most commonly, it results from nonspecific inflammation of the urethra, prostate and/or seminal vesicles. Infections or inflammation of Prostate or seminal vesicles can possibly cause Bleeding.Malignancy at this age is not a likely possibility.

I would advise you to contact Emergency to further evaluation and if its infectious in origin Antibiotics should be started as soon as possible.
