I've had at least 10 yeast infections in 2 years, there is a history of vaginal cancer in my family, I have had the worst cramps ever with my last period, & the period that I'm on now started so thick that it didn't even go though my underware. My friend thinks I should get checked for PID, do you think that it sounds like I might have PID? If not what do you think it is? I have had blood test done to see if there might be something wrong causeing me to get the yeast infections. They didn't see anything, but I haven't gone to the GYN yet to get checked out. I don't wear really tight jeans, I wear cotton underwear, I don't douch, I clean up after sex, I take care of myself, so why am I getting these yeast infections?

Hi,

One source of yeast infection women tend not to think of is their partner(s). Men frequently have no symptoms with a yeast infection, so they don't know they are passing it along to the women they have sex with. I always advise women that their partner(s) should be treated at the same time they are, and to refrain from sex for a week or so until both are cured.

I think it is a good idea to have a thorough exam by your gyn who will be able to test for any organism that is causing the problems and prescribe the correct medication. PID is always a possibility, and endometriosis is another. Good luck.
