Hello,

There are multiple causes of blood in urine (hematuria). Some are serious, including cancers, trauma, stones, infections, and obstructions of the urinary tract. Others are less important, and may require no treatment. These may include viral infections, nonspecific inflammations of the kidney, and medications which thin the blood's clotting ability. Your regular doctor or an urgent care center would have to do a urine test to determine if there was an infection or if there was some other cause for the bleeding.
