Hi. I am a 36 year old athletic female. I take karate to be exact. I have had a painful right ankle for some time now. I also noticed a few weeks ago that when I touch the TOP of my right foot, that it is was tingly. But today, it got worse. Now, the top of my foot is numb. Do I need to see a doctor? Thanks.

this is probably due to nerve compression at the ankle. the cause of the pain, whether it be a sprain or overuse inflammation likley has now advanced to the point that its pressing on the nerve to the top of the foot causing it to feel "different". ice and elevate with 600 mg motrin or 1 alleve tonight if you have no allergies or contraindications and then call you dr in the am. no more heavy activity until examined.
