i would continue giving him benadryl and ice it. this can be several things:
an allergic reaction
an early viral infection (many have rashes called exanthems)
a sinus infection (can cause swelling around the eyes but less common at his age to have well developed sinuses)
i would call his dr if it gets worse on the benadryl today, he might need a stonger med like prednisone for the swelling, or if he develops a temp over 100.4.
otherwise id have him checked in the office tomorrow if not better.

Reply to Dr. Bush's Post: This started Friday, if indeed it is an allergic reaction, what foods should I avoid giving him. He dint have anything to eat this AM, & his eye got worse & that is when I noticed his rash. Should I avoid having physical activities with him, ie swimming, bike riding or walking?

avoid anything that is new (foods, creams, shampoos). try ice and motrin if he can take that. if he is worse in an hour or two despite the above and appropriate dose of benadryl id call his dr. sometimes with severe reactions they need prednisone.
if his eye is red or has a dishcarge let the dr know.
if he gets a little better activity wise he should be okay to do light activity as long as things dont get worse or he has no problems breathing or swallowing-then get him into the er. i would hold off on swimming just because of the possibility of more exposure to different bacteria and chemicals.
