My 2 year old woke up with a few red spots on her chest this morning. I gave her benadryl and a few hours later they were much worse. Now the hives are on her face, back, chest, very concentrated in her diaper area and are itchy. We have given 3 doses of benadryl and one dose of claritin, triamcinolone cream topically. Should these be gone by now?

Optional Information:
Female, Age: 38, Tennessee

Already Tried:
Benadryl, claritin, steroid cream

ACCEPTED Check Mark

if all of this isnt working and youre sure its hives she likely needs oral steroids. you can continue the current meds for tonight if she is showing no danger signs of difficulty breathing or swallowing and call her dr in the am.
if these arent definitely hives, this could be the reason she not responding to the meds you gave. viral rashes are another possibillity. there is then no treatment since theyre viral but she should be seen in the office to rule out other possible infections.

I'm trying to figure it out. Mainly what I need is confirmation this is hives. I've tried to add image but it states that the file size is too large.

I've looked on there. I've had people download pictures for me before, but I can't get it to accept my image. Anyway, what dose should I give her of benadryl? Should I continue this through the night - if I don't give it will it get worse. It truly looks terrible. I'll get her to the doctor first thing in the am. If it is urticaria when would I expect it to be better?
