Question

6 year old's night time incontinence

Sent to Health Experts August 01, 2005 2:11 a.m.

My 6 1/2 year old son only has bowel movements during the night. We have tried waking him progressively earlier to go to the bathroom, thinking eventually he would begin going before he went to sleep. But we seem to be stuck at 11:00. If I wake him up earlier than that, he can't go. We've also tried having him sit on the toilet periodically during the day - but he wasn't able to go then either. We've tried giving him mineral oil to make things easier, but then he had diarrhea.    We've also tried having a reward ready for when he is able to go during the day - but the reward is still waiting a year later! We are all very frustrated. How can we fix this?
