If your foot feels like it is 'locking' there may be some underlying
problems with tendons and/or bones. Imaging studies are amazing,
but they are not perfect.
Your therapist is correct in telling you that sprains take a long time
to heal -- longer than breaks, actually. Still, you should be
able to note some incremental progress along the way. If you are
noting progress -- I advise you to be patient for a while longer.
Ask your therapist for some sort of ballpark timeline for
recovery. It will help your outlook to know that this will not go
on forever.
Also, carefully review with your therapist what your limitations are at
this point in your recovery. You don't need to be prolonging
things by doing too much or doing the wrong things.
If, on the other hand, you are not seeing any progress -- I recommend that you seek another medical opinion.
Let me know if you need more input. If not, thanks for the
opportunity to assist you... I would really appreciate your honoring my
efforts by 'pushing the button' and Accepting this answer. Adding
a bonus -- should you wish to do so -- is always warmly welcomed.
Good Luck!
Steve
