Inguinal hernia per se is NOT a medical emergency, there are certain reasons for visiting the ER.

Sudden onset severe pain, and redness, difficulty in passing stools etc.

If your symptoms are consistent with Inguinal hernia but you do not have SEVERE symptoms/ worsening symptoms you may fix an OPD appointment at the earliest with your physician, rather than rushing to the ER.
