For the past week at bed time, I have been feeling like my heart is not functioning properly and I have a hard time breathing. It feels like i have a tight band around my chest and I can only breathe to about 80%. I am on the ortho evra patch. I am wondering if this could be from the patch or if I may be experiencing anxiety attacks. I also have a history of heart attacks in my family. I also wake up in the morning congested and cough up phlegm, so could this be a pneumonia that doesn't have the classic symptoms?
When I do fall asleep at night I wake myself up quickly and sit up because I get a dizzy feeling and don't feel that i was breathing. Do you have any suggestions

REPLIED Check Mark

Hi, these symptoms can be from a great number of things. How long have you been on the patch? This very well may be anxiety related, but with a family history of heart issues you really should be seen by a physician and be evaluated (better to be safe than sorry).
Regarding the morning, this can be related to allergies and may be a URI vice a pneumonia, do you have fever? chills?
Hope this helps and that you are better soon.

Thanks
