Question

I am 10 months out of having a total knee replacement,

I am 10 months out of having a total knee replacement, including the knee cap. Altho I have had all the physical therapy allowable by my insurance and continue to ride a recumbent bike, and continue to do stretching exercises, my knee is still very painful, extremely stiff and I have limited mobility. I am 5 - 7 degrees from straightening and bend at 95 degrees. I take celebrex daily. My surgeon told me that my body created too much scar tissue - he has told me it may take one to two years for the
knee to heal. My physical therapist tells me that he has not had any experience with anyone whose knee was still "hot" after 10 months," which he says means that it is still healing. He does not have an answer why it is still so stiff and painful. My surgeon and physical therapist disagree on how much
and how aggressive my therapy should be. My surgeon told me at 4 months that any additional therapy was useless. After 6 months I went to see my GP who disagreed with the surgeon and sent me back to therapy for an additional 10 sessions. I am an active woman of 62 years. I am desperate to be free of pain and to get medical advice that gives me direction and restores me to health. Do you have any suggestions - should i get a second opinion from a surgeon? I find It difficult to go back to the same surgical group - am I a candidate for Mayo?
