Recently I have been waking up several times through out the night completely soaked in sweat. It occurs 2 to 5 times per night and is so bad that I need to change all of my cloathing. I also have had these weird feelings of something that is hard to describe, it sort of feels like a very light shock that I can feel in my neck, head and eyes. It lasts for a second or so. It doesn't make me dizzy I just feel like I have to blink my eyes. It's hard to explain. Have you heard of something like this before? I am a female, 25 years old and healthy except for this. My name is Amanda Fredmonski and my email address is Customer (name blocked for privacy)@verizon.net

Reply to Pauline's Post: I have not had any unexplained weight loss or gain, bleeding from gums, nose bleeds or rashes. I do not seem to have any swelling or lumps under the jaw, in the neck, armpits or groin that I can tell. I have recently discontinued 50 mg zoloft daily after 4 months due nausea and dizziness associated with the medication. I was put on this medication for anxiety but I did not feel that the anxeity was severe enough to constitute the nausea and dizziness that I was experiencing. After consulting the physician that prescribed this medication we both agreed that the anxeity that I was experiencing was most likely work associated. Since beginning that medication I have made career changes that are not causing the anxeity that I was experiencing. Since I had never before experienced any sort of anxeity or depression that required medication and after discontinuing that medication 17 days ago I have none of those previous symptoms. As far as other symptoms go I am not really sure that I have any. I will say that the feeling of numbness in my in face, head and hands that seems to throbe ever once and a while was more apparent today then it has been. It sort of feels like when a limb falls asleep and you try to move it but it is not continuous it just presents it self in slight flashes and is usually occurs with movement ever once in a while and is not continuous. Have you ever heard of this? Can it be anxeity or the SSRI Zoloft coming out of my system? The only other medication that I take is Tylnol Sinus/Allergy but not on a regular basis only when needed.

It could be panic related or related to changes in neurotransmitters after your recent medication but this will be resolving by now.
Other options might be a trapped nerve (but this would happen more frequently) or changes in blood pressure. Have your blood pressure checked if you have not already done so.

Taking decongestant tablets will cause disruption to sleeping patterns and nightmares so definately cut these out. Ensure that you cut caffeine out of your diet so no coffee or fizzy drinks.

The good news is that by not having any of the symptoms that I asked about then it is very unlikely that you have a serious medical condition. The withdrawal period of the medication should be more or less over by now so if you continue to have symptoms pop back to your consultant for a chat.

Relist: I still need help.
Thank you. Just one more thing, How long does it take for the medication to stop effecting neurotransmission. I know you said it should not be effecting me any longer but what is the typical time frame?
