Hi, Yes there are a number of new medications that have been available for the last 4-6 years and most of them work very well and have little of no side effects compared to the older antiepileptic medications. Lamictal and Neurotin are two of the most popular among patients and providers and are covered under almost all insurance plans. Please see your neurologist about this and remember to be very careful and wean of the dilantin just as the neurologist tells you.
