One cause of migraines would have easily been affected by this type of accident. Any kind of whiplash injury results in a misalignment of the vertebrae in the neck, and the resulting pressure on the nerves coming from between the vertebrae will cause tension and pain, resulting in migraine. Did you seek medical care immediately after the accident? If so, I would recommend taking the x-rays to a reputable chiropractor (you'll need to ask some friends, probably) who is experienced in dealing with people who have been involved in a car accident.

It would also be easily possible for there to have been abrasions (like carpet burns) from the air bag. Just about anything that strikes the skin with force and moves across it can cause this problem.

I believe that it is well within reason, yes. Whiplash injuries would be a cause of migraines, and if you already had them, it could increase their frequency. Again, if you are needing assistance with documentation of such, or treatment, I would strongly suggest that you see a reputable chiropractor.
