Human growth hormone (HGH) is a prescription medication used by physicians to treat a variety of disorders, including people who have growth hormone deficiency (those very short in stature) and those who are losing body mass because of chronic disease, like HIV. These disorders can be treated by HGH because they have been studied in clinical trials that evalute the efficacy of HGH versus other treatments or placebo, and they have determined that it works.
HGH as a treatment for decreased energy, weight gain, and the effects of aging has not been studied - so it is impossible to say if HGH does work to treat these things. Many claims are made, these days, about new "treatments" for all of the things that ail us, but you should know that many of these claims are uncircumstantiated. Moreover, when people illictly used steroids and hormones like HGH, they very often initially ignore all of the other side effects that commonly come with the drug. In clinical trials, HGH was shown to cause extremity and joint pain, and swelling throughout the body. It also caused numbness and tingling, fatigue, stiffness, and back pain. So, while it can help those with a deficiency, it comes at a cost.
So I would recommend, if you are feeling lethargic, and/or are gaining weight, that you should seek the advice of your physician and other health professionals. Sometimes, decreased energy and weight gain can be symptoms of a medical condition (e.g. depression, etc.) and these can often be treated well with an appropriate medication. Of course, we all age and with that comes certain things.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions. Take care.
