can you help with an embarrasing problem I have? I commonly see blood after a bowel movement when I wipe. other symptoms include itching, and uncomfortableness. this problem has been going on for over a year, but I am too embarrassed to see a doctor. is there an over-the-counter way to treat this?

First, the most important advice that I have is no NEVER be embarrassed to seek medical treatment-- it could save yur life.   A doctor does not judge you or believe that any of your symptoms are weird or funny.

Are you prone to hard bowel movements? Does your anus burn as well as itvch.

You may have an anal fissiure. It is best to make an appointment with a colorectal specialist for an accurate diagnosis.

No, anal fissure aren't harmful, just painful. What can happen is that in some cases of chronic fissures, an outpatient surgery is performed to help heal them.

It is important to drink plenty of water and eat plenty of fiber to stop dry, hard stools.
