i have a big red sore on the end of my nose that is very painful what could it be?

It could be a pimple forming and it will be more painful on the bridge of the nose. I am not sire of your age but this can be common in adults as well, and it can be from a clogged pore as well so monitor it and see if it comes to a head and then heals as most do heal theirself within 2-3 days.

It may be a boil as well, as that can take a couple of weeks to heal, and can be extremely painful, nose and ear boils are rare but can be more painful then other areas. It starts as a red mark on the surface of your skin and then in sometimes as little as 34-36 hours can change to a puss filled painful boil. Warm compresses are advised and they usually heal theirself but in extremely painful areas they have the meed for medical treatment.
